Justin Connell joined the faculty team at Brewster in 2021, after 20 years of teaching in both public and independent schools. He has taught a variety of science courses during his career, including all core science courses (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), as well as several elective courses that he designed to meet the needs of his students. He will be teaching both Chemistry and Physics at Brewster.
Mr. Connell decided to transition his teaching career to a boarding school after 15 years in public school, primarily due to his fond memories of attending private school as a student. He says he has been overwhelmed by the beautiful campus, the kind and knowledgeable faculty, and most importantly, the extremely strong sense of community that is present at Brewster: “My family and I felt at home almost immediately,” he says. He is passionate about the sciences, and looks forward to igniting curiosity and excitement about Physics and Chemistry in his classes. He is excited to be coaching the mountain biking team in Fall 2021—a new athletic endeavor for the school—as well as JV Lacrosse in the spring. He and his wife reside in Chamberlain with their two sons.
When not teaching or coaching, Mr. Connell enjoys several outdoor activities, including cycling, hiking, paddling, and disc golf. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends playing board games and card games, or spending time outside in this beautiful region.
