Connor Wells

Connor Wells has made a career as an educator in independent boarding schools - coming to Brewster in 2021 as the academy's Athletic Director.  Previously working at peer NEPSAC schools - Kent School (CT) and Avon Old Farms School (CT) - Mr. Wells has taught Biology, Environmental Science, been a dorm parent, advisor, and a multi-season coach.  Most recently at Kent School, Mr. Wells was an Assistant Dean of Students and Associate Athletic Director, as well as the Head Football Coach for seven years in the most competitive Class A division of NEPSAC. Coach Wells also coached Boys' Varsity Lacrosse and multiple levels of Boys' Hockey at both of his prior schools.

An alum of Avon Old Farms (2005) where he played football, hockey, and lacrosse, Wells went on to graduate from Trinity College (2009) and was a four-year letter winner in both football and lacrosse. In lacrosse, Wells was a team captain, two-time All-NESCAC First Teamer, an All-ECAC selection in the midfield, and was one of the top face-off specialists in the nation throughout his career, winning more than 60% of his 985 face-off attempts. He graduated from Trinity College as the lacrosse program's career leader in ground balls.  In football, Wells was a wide receiver for two NESCAC Champion and undefeated Bantam football teams. He was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Football Team, the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, the NESCAC All-Academic Team, the All-NESCAC Football First Team, and the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.  Wells earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College, graduating with honors in Biology, and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society.  He earned a M.A. from Wesleyan University in 2015.

Currently at Brewster, Mr. Wells leads our Athletic and Co-Curricular programs as well as the Boys' Varsity Lacrosse team.  He sits on the NEPSAC Executive Board of Athletic Directors as the Vice President of District II.  He believes in a strong emphasis on team culture, character development, and has worked with District II colleagues to develop a Lakes Region League code of conduct, league guiding principles, and fair play statements.  Outside of Brewster, Coach Wells has coached with multiple regional and national lacrosse club programs, working with multiple skill levels, age groups, and coaching all positions.

In his free time, Connor loves to downhill ski, cross-country ski, bike ride, play hockey and lacrosse, throw the football, and take plenty of fun adventures with his wife, Mrs. Varga-Wells (Brewster's Head Crew Coach & English Faculty) and their dog, Mr. Finn.
