Brewster Academy Athletics

Kaitlin Varga-Wells joined the Brewster community in 2021 as the head crew coach, English teacher, and Community Living Parent in Lamb Dorm. Mrs. Varga-Wells knew she wanted to work in independent boarding schools since her positive experience attending Williston Northampton School in Massachusetts. As a student-athlete in college, Mrs. Varga-Wells was a four-year varsity letter winner and two-year captain of the women’s rowing team at Connecticut College. After graduation, she taught English and coached rowing at two independent schools in Connecticut (the Frederick Gunn School and the Kent School). At Kent, she was also a head dorm parent and served as the co-advisor to the Senior Council. While juggling her responsibilities, Katy commuted to New York City several times a week to complete her Masters in the Art of Teaching English at Columbia University. “After teaching for 10 years in Connecticut, I am excited to return to the Granite State where I was born and raised—and have my dream job as a Brewster Bobcat!” she says. 

In her free time, Katy loves to row, work out, read, coach, and go on outdoor adventures with her husband Connor Wells (Brewster’s Director of Athletics) and their dog, Mr. Finn.
