A talented student-athlete from Raleigh, N.C., Devonte’ Graham elected to attend Brewster Academy in 2013 as a postgraduate student rather than entering college as a recruited basketball player. He was a dedicated member of the Brewster senior class and student body, remembered as a wonderful citizen and community member. His exceptional play on the basketball court for Coach Jason Smith earned him a First Team All-NEPSAC Class AAA selection, and Graham also helped lead the Bobcats to the 2014 NEPSAC Class AAA Championship, as well as the program’s third National Prep Championship that same season. A highly touted Division I recruit, Graham committed to Big-12 powerhouse University of Kansas upon graduating from Brewster. In four seasons with the Jayhawks, just some of Graham’s most notable awards and honors on the court include Big-12 All Defense Team, Big-12 Tournament First Team, Big-12 Tournament MVP, and NCAA Tournament All-Region (all in 2016); Big-12 Second Team in 2017; and in his senior season (2018), Big-12 First Team, Big-12 Player of the Year, Naismith Award Finalist, Wooden Award Finalist, Big-12 Tournament First Team, NCAA Tournament All-Region, and a First Team All-America honoree in the AP, Consensus, NABC, Sporting News, USBWA, and Wooden polls and selection committees.
Graham was drafted 34th overall in the 2018 NBA draft. Since then, he has been a member of three NBA franchises: the Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, and San Antonio Spurs. He has also played in the NBA G League.
