Emmanuel Negedu was arguably the most athletic, explosive player in the history of the Brewster Academy basketball program.  He was also a multi-year member and major contributor and goal scorer to Brewster’s varsity soccer team.  On the court, his powerful dunks and display of amazing athleticism left many people shaking their heads in awe and disbelief during his four years as a member of the prep basketball program.  Negedu, a two-time captain at Brewster led the Bobcats to two NEPSAC Class A Championship Game appearances, including the program’s first Class A title in 2008.  Negedu averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game as a senior.  Negedu was the 2008 New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year, a consensus top 50 national recruit in the class of 2008, and he initially signed with the University of Arizona and Hall of Fame Coach, Lute Olson. When Olson came to recruit Negedu during his junior year, he arrived via helicopter landing on the baseball diamond.  Negedu requested his release due to Olson's leave of absence for health reasons and then signed with the University of Tennessee in spring of 2008.  Negedu played his freshman year at Tennessee before a sudden cardiac arrest ended his career as a Vol in the fall of 2009.  Negedu transferred to the University of New Mexico where he played for one season before his career ended due to the same heart condition concern.
