A captain of the Prep Basketball team, McGary helped lead the Bobcats to a Prep National Championship in 2012 before signing with the University of Michigan. While at Brewster, McGary received 2nd Team All NEPSAC honors; he was a 2012 First Team Parade All-American; and he was selected to the 2012 Nike Hoop Summit (one of top ten players to represent the USA in a game versus the top ten players in the World). At Brewster’s commencement ceremony in 2012, McGary was also one of the recipients of the prestigious Arthur J. Mason Foundation Award, given to graduates displaying good sportsmanship in athletics, in the halls, in the classrooms, and among students, faculty, and others.  While at Michigan, McGary was selected to the 2013 Big 10 All-Freshman Team and 2013 All South Regional Team. That year, McGary’s Michigan team made it to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament, where McGary was selected as a member of the 2013 All Tournament Team. In 2014, McGary entered the NBA Draft and was selected 21st overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
