The name Ryder Garnsey has become synonymous with the game of lacrosse. Garnsey is a standout professional player, a notable influencer and promoter of the modern game, and an accomplished collegiate player and coach at the highest level. Garnsey’s roots began in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He is the son of the long-time beloved Brewster staff member Fred Garnsey. As a student-athlete at Brewster, Garnsey excelled in lacrosse, ice hockey, and golf. At the conclusion of his senior season in 2014, Garnsey graduated as the lacrosse program’s all-time leading scorer. He continued his talents and exceptional play on the lacrosse field in college at the University of Notre Dame. Among his many accolades as a collegiate player, Garnsey was the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year, 2017 Preseason All-ACC Team, 2017 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, 2017 USILA Honorable Mention All-American, 2018 ACC All-Tournament Team, 2018 USILA Honorable Mention All-American.

Continuing his career professionally in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), Garnsey was drafted by and continues to play for the California Redwoods. He was a 2023 PLL 2nd Team All Pro and PLL All Star. Complementing his professional playing career, Garnsey also is a current member of the Notre Dame men’s lacrosse coaching staff. As a coach at Notre Dame, Garnsey was a member of the Fighting Irish’s back-to-back NCAA Division I National Championship teams in 2023 and 2024.
