Arriving at Brewster Academy in his sophomore year, Terrence had an immediate impact on campus as a hard-working, kind, and sincere young man as well as an incredibly gifted basketball player. Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Clarke was a key contributor at shooting guard for the program’s 2019 National Prep Championship. During the following season, 2019-2020, Clarke averaged 18.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3 assists as Brewster concluded the regular season and New England regional play with a 34-3 record before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the National Prep finals. In the fall of 2019, Clarke was rated a five-star recruit by Rivals, ESPN, and 247Sports. After evaluating offers from Boston College, Duke, Memphis, Texas Tech, and UCLA, Clarke announced his commitment to attend the University of Kentucky. He reclassified to the Class of 2020 and entered Kentucky as a student-athlete later that fall.

In his freshman season, Clarke scored a career-high 22 points against Georgia Tech in December and was viewed as an elite NBA prospect. Clarke then declared for the 2021 NBA Draft. In late April of 2021, just three months prior to the NBA Draft, Terrence’s life was cut short after a tragic accident that occurred while leaving a training session in Los Angeles. In July of 2021, between the 14th and 15th picks of the NBA Draft, Commissioner Adam Silver selected Clarke as a ceremonial pick, fulfilling his dream of being drafted into the NBA. Since Terrence’s passing, his impact on his community and the basketball world has been immense. Both the TClarke5 Foundation and TC5 Community Gift Back event were established in his memory, honoring his legacy through community initiatives that foster a spirit of generosity, unity, and perseverance within the Boston community. His family, Klutch Sports Group, and professional basketball players such as Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown have collaborated to honor Clarke’s life and give back to the city of Boston and the communities that made him who he was.
