Brewster Academy Athletics

JaKarr Sampson had a storied two year career for the Brewster Prep basketball program, starting with his NEPSAC 1st Team Selection in his junior season of 2011. In his senior year at Brewster, Sampson was a captain of Brewster Prep Basketball’s 2012 National Championship team; a NEPSAC 1st Team Selection once again; 2012 NEPSAC Player of the Year; and the 2012 National Prep Championship most valuable player. On commencement day at Brewster in the spring of 2012, Sampson received the Ronald “Buzzy” Dore Memorial Award for the graduate who exemplifies the qualities of our alumnus and friend, showing outstanding leadership in the areas of academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities, and who is a friend to all. Continuing his career as a student-athlete at St. John’s University, Sampson was named Big East Rookie of the Year in 2013.  Since college Sampson has played with multiple teams in the NBA and internationally, has been an NBA G-League All-Star, and a EuroCup Champion.
